New AdWords Keyword Planner Tool

Finally AdWords listened and they’ve launched the AdWords Keyword Planner tool. Google are aware that every successful account has a well structured approach to Keywords and AdGroups so now (after lots of feedback!) they’ve created the AdWords Keyword Planner to allow you to identify new Keywords and AdGroups, get traffic estimates and pick the best budget and bid to get the best volume and ad position etc.
Google have taken onboard that it’s been frustrating for people to use traffic and bid estimator as well as Keyword tool to figure out what is worth targeting so now you can use the new Keyword Planner to research new Keywords and AdGroup ideas then gather performance estimates to figure out if the bid and budget will work for you, then add them to your campaigns.
Find new Keywords and AdGroup Ideas :
You can use the new Keyword Planner tool just like you would the Google keyword tool, search for ideas that relate to a target Keyword, category or even website but you can also combine two or more Keywords now to make new keywords and get the estimates for those too. Plus as a big point for many users; where previously you could only target by country, you can now target down to individual cities and even regions within a country! As if that wasn’t good enough you can also get stats that are relevant for your exact term so no more vague figures that are worthless, on top of that you can also get performance estimates for each of the Google match types!
Now you can Add Keywords and AdGroups to a plan :
After choosing your Keywords and AdGroup ideas you can then add them to your Google Keyword Planner Tool Plan. You can consider this plan like a shopping basket full of ideas that you can choose to add to new campaigns or even current ones. You can add new ideas, delete them, as well as change the bid range to see total estimated clicks and the cost.
Once you are ready to rock you simply click “Get estimates and review plan” to pick a specific bid and get more detailed estimates.
Get performance Estimates for your plan :
Whilst reviewing your plan, you will see a chart with the max cost per click range and performance estimates for each day for your AdGroups and Keywords. You can actually see more detailed performance estimates by selecting a bid and even budget too. Also to further refine your performance estimates you can update your targeting settings, the Keywords or AdGroups to see how it could influence performance.

Once you are happy with your Keyword Plan, it can be applied to an existing or new campaign or even downloaded to use later. You can read more about the difference between the old Keyword tool and the new Keyword planner here.
With the introduction of this new Keyword Planner tool, Google will be retiring the Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator within the next 60 days.
